This is an excellent introduction to the grape variety. Sometimes very exuberant, this Yalumba The Y Series Viognier South Australia 2021 shows more restraint here. A nice nose, fine and fruity, opens with notes of citrus fruits, peach, orange blossom, with a delicate note of pastry cream. On the palate, the wine is dry, rich and round, but without heaviness thanks to pretty bitterness that brings contrast and freshness. Floral and spicy notes develop in the mouth, but without being heady. A simpler and lighter version of Viognier, to try with a ginger fish or with a peach salsa.
