Yaël Braun-Pivet was re-elected President of the National Assembly after the third round

The Yvelines MP received 220 votes, while the communist André Chassaigne, representing the New Popular Front, obtained 207 votes.

At the head of the perch, the name does not change. The outgoing president of the National Assembly and candidate for Ensemble pour la République, Yaël Braun-Pivet, was re-elected on Thursday, July 18, with 220 votes, after a third round. At the end of a suspenseful election, the 53-year-old deputy from Yvelines therefore regains her post after the dissolution, thanks in particular to the support of the right.This election obliges me more than ever, more than that of 2022″, she said.

Communist André Chassaigne, representing the New Popular Front, came second with 207 votes, followed by Sébastien Chenu of the National Rally (141 votes). The deputies elected on July 7 met for the first time in the chamber on Thursday.

In this third round, a relative majority was enough to win. In the second round, Charles de Courson for the Liot group decided to withdraw after obtaining 12 votes. At the end of the first round, Philippe Juvin for LR (48 votes) and Naïma Moutchou for Horizons (38 votes) also chose to withdraw from the race.
