Yaël Braun-Pivet was elected President of the National Assembly. She becomes the very first woman to hold this position.
It’s a big first, Yaël Braun-Pivet, deputy for the Republic in Walking 51-year-old is the first woman elected president of The national assembly. With 242 votes, the brand new occupant of the perch obtained the majority. “Strong voices resound in these spans, these are the voices of those to whom we owe to live in a free country (…), men are born and remain free and equal in rights”said Yael Braun-Pivet, just after his election.
Yaël Braun-Pivet is no novice in politics. She is a member of a constituency in the Yvelines. She was first elected in 2017. She was also president of the law commission after beginning her career as a lawyer.
