Yaël Braun-Pivet claims that she has filed “around thirty complaints for anti-Semitic acts” since the summer of 2022

The President of the National Assembly recalls, in an interview with Gérard Larcher in “Parisien”, that she has had police protection since October 7.

At the end of her first mandate as a deputy, she told franceinfo that it was necessary “file a complaint systematically” against anti-Semitic comments and actions. Two and a half years later, having become president of the National Assembly, Yaël Braun-Pivet spoke of the number of complaints she has filed since her accession to the perch, in June 2022. “Even if I no longer count, I believe that I have made around thirty complaints for anti-Semitic acts as President of the National Assembly, since the start of my mandate”declared the elected representative of Yvelines, Saturday October 5, in a joint interview with Parisian with the President of the Senate, Gérard Larcher.

On the occasion of the first anniversary of the massive Hamas attacks in Israel, the President of the National Assembly reflects on the impact of these events which disrupted her daily life and that of her family. “Before October 7, I did not have police protection in front of my home. I did not want it because I thought I did not need it. Since the events of October 7, I have had it. have one”she assures, while pro-Gaza rallies were organized throughout France and Europe on Saturday.

In their interview, the two leaders of Parliament denounce the behavior of Jean-Luc Mélenchon and more generally of La France insoumise in the fight against anti-Semitism. “We have witnessed a convergence of radical Islamist movements, including the Muslim Brotherhood, and an extreme left which has thus rediscovered an ideological fight and which has made an electoral calculation”argues Gérard Larcher, while the radical left defends itself from complacency with anti-Semitism.
