It was an open secret, it’s now official. Xavier Garbajosa will be Lyon’s new sporting manager next season, announced on Saturday February 5 the Rhone club. It will replace Pierre Mignoni, whose departure was announced Thursday, one year from the end of his contract.

The former Stade Toulousain player, who began his coaching career at La Rochelle, “has signed up for a three-year term. He will take office on July 1, 2022”, said the LOU in a press release.
At Stade Rochelais, where he started in the 2014-2015 season alongside Patrice Collazo and Fabrice Ribeyrolles, he is one of those who participated in the rise of the Maritimes as a three-quarter coach .
In 2019, he was appointed sports manager of Montpellier, with whom the adventure ended in January 2021.
