Delphine Pader, a guard suspected for four years of bringing explosives into prison, committed suicide last summer. A month later, the Lille public prosecutor’s office requested a dismissal of the case.

The portrait of his wife sits in the middle of his living room, a white rose placed in front. This summer, Delphine Pader, head supervisor at the Douai remand center (North), committed suicide. Since 2018, she has been indicted for criminal conspiracy, suspected of having introduced 500 grams of explosives into her prison.

An inmate claimed to have filmed her handing explosives to a prisoner. However, no trace of this video was found on his phone. Delphine Pader proclaimed her innocence, but remained indicted without being able to return to her work. “She did many odd jobs.”explains his son.

On July 31, she ended her life. A few weeks later, the Lille public prosecutor’s office requested a dismissal of the case, recognizing the absence of sufficient charges against Delphine Pader. A drama which illustrates the slowness of the legal process. The supervisor’s family plans to file a complaint against the State for “gross misconduct”.
