wristband, perimeter of the parties, car parks, buses… practical information for the festayres

D-2 before the launch of the 90th Bayonne celebrations. They begin this Wednesday, July 27, in particular with the stride of the festayres and the world championship of omelette with peppers. France Bleu Pays Basque gives you all practical information two days before this great return from the holidays, after two blank years.

Large surfaces lend their car parks

This is new: the BAB 2 and Ametzondo Ikea will provide 400 places from their car park, the Leclerc de Bayonne Nord 200 and the Carrefour de Tarnos could also join the movement. From shopping centers, partygoers will then have to take the tram-bus (or the shuttle to Ikea) to join the party. The sign security officers will be on site with breathalyzers, provided by the town hall, to distribute to you before you hit the road again.

Two meeting points for buses

Place des Basques will not be invaded by coaches and shuttles as in previous years. To ease traffic, buses from Arbonne, Ahetze, Ascain, Cambo-les-Bains, Espelette, Guiche, Hasparren, Lahonce, Larceveau, Mauléon, Sare, St-Esteben, St-Jean-Pied-de-Port , St-Palais, St-Pée-sur-Nivelle and Urt will park on the quay of Lesseps, on the right bank of the Adour. Those for Anglet, Arcangues, Bassussarry, Bayonne, Biarritz, Bidart, Boucau, Mouguerre, Ondres, Tarnos, St-Martin de Seignanx, St-Pierre d’Irube and Villefranque remain in place des Basques.

An unknown still persists: the bus driver unions of the network Txik Txak threaten to strike during the festivities. They must meet the management of the Keolis company this Monday.

The perimeter of the holidays remains the same

The festivities will take place, as usual, in Grand Bayonne, Petit Bayonne and the Quartier Saint-Esprit. That is to say inside the perimeter of the Adour and the ramparts. On the other hand from from 11 a.m. until 7 a.m. the next day, motorists will not be able to drive in a wider perimeter, going as far as the Paulmy alleys and the Jean Dauger stadium. Motorhomes are prohibited in the city and will be systematically removed if necessary. Inside the perimeter of the holidays, no parked car will be tolerated outside an underground car park, in a street for example.

A high security budget

The security budget is estimated at 1.3 million euros this year, much more than the approximately 700,000 euros three years ago. It is for this reason, advances the town hall, that the bracelet intended for non-Bayonnais is increasing, to 10 euros instead of 8. As a reminder, the party remains accessible free of charge on Wednesdays and Thursdays. You can already pick up a bracelet in a supermarket, at the town hall or in a tobacconist. Seven boxes will also be installed along the ramparts during the five feast days. If you live in Bayonne, don’t forget your ID and proof of address to get the pass for free.
