The auction of the jewelry collection of late Austrian billionaire Heidi Horton is set to break a record set more than a decade ago.
The 700 jewels belonging to Mrs. Horton are valued at more than $200 million, according to the international auction company Christie’s.
Billed as “the largest and most valuable” collection of private jewelry ever to be auctioned, Christie’s told CNN that it is expected to “eclipse” the 2011 Elizabeth Taylor collection and the 2019 Maharajas & Mughal Magnificence auction, which are the only two jewelry collections to reach over $100 million.
Currently, it is actress Elizabeth Taylor’s collection that has achieved this feat. In 2011, his jewels were sold for nearly $157 million.
