World’s oldest man dies at 114

(Caracas) Venezuelan Juan Vicente Pérez Mora, who in 2022 became the oldest man in the world according to Guinness World Records, died on Tuesday at the age of 114, authorities and his family said.


“Juan Vicente Pérez Mora entered eternity at the age of 114. This native of El Cobre gave Venezuela the longevity record awarded by Guinness World Records,” President Nicolas Maduro said on X.

On February 4, 2022, the Venezuelan, then aged 112 years and 253 days, was officially recognized as the oldest man in the world, according to the Guinness World Records website.

Father of 11 children, in 2022 he had 41 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

The farmer was born in El Cobre, in the western state of Táchira, on May 27, 1909. He was the ninth child in a family of ten.

“At the age of five, he began working with his father and brothers in agriculture and helped harvest sugar cane and coffee,” Guinness World Records said after presenting him with the award. .
