(Brampton) Denisa Krizova scored twice, including the game-winner, as the Czech Republic defeated Switzerland 3-2 to win the bronze medal at the World Women’s Hockey Championship on Sunday.
It was the second consecutive encounter between the two teams in the bronze medal match, as the Czech Republic also triumphed last year.
Michaela Pejzlova scored the Czech Republic’s other goal. Blanka Skodova saved 11 of 13 pucks aimed at her.
Lara Stalder and Lena Marie Lutz replied for Switzerland. Andrea Braendli made 30 saves in a losing cause.
Earlier on Sunday, Finland defeated Sweden 3-1 in the fifth-place game.
Jenni Hiirikoski, Kiira Yrjanen and Noora Tulus threaded the needle for Finland while Anna Kjellbin moved the ropes for Sweden.
