(Budapest) Penny Oleksiak narrowly missed her third podium of the 2022 Aquatics Championships by finishing fourth in the 100 freestyle on Thursday.

Oleksiak of Toronto was third at the turn but conceded six hundredths of a second to American Torri Huske and finished off the podium in 52.98 seconds.
Australian Mollie O’Callaghan triumphed in a second event at the World Aquatics, and won a fourth career gold medal in this major competition.
World record holder in the distance, Sweden’s Sarah Sjöström, finished second in 52.80 seconds, ahead of Huske.
For her part, Toronto’s Kayla Sanchez finished in sixth place in 53.59.
Elsewhere, Oleksiak came last to propel Canada to bronze in the 4×200 freestyle relay, earning her a seventh career medal at the World Aquatics.
The medal allowed her to join her compatriot Kylie Masse of LaSalle, Ont., as the most decorated Canadian in the history of the competition. Masse added two medals (gold in the 60m backstroke and silver in the 100m backstroke) to his collection in Budapest.
Oleksiak also helped the country to silver in the 4x100m freestyle relay on Saturday, as a curtain raiser to the event.
Canada’s other medal hope was also gone Thursday night after Kelsey Wog of Winnipeg was fourth in the 200 breaststroke.
American Lilly King triumphed in 2:22.41, followed by Australian Jenna Strauch (2:23.04) and American Kate Douglass (2:23.20).
