A near-perfect performance from the Atlanta Braves’ pitching group saw them take Game 3 World Series honors 2-0 against the Houston Astros on Friday at Truist Park.

The crowd favorites were just six outs from a scoring and hitting scoring game when Aledmys Diaz landed a strike at the expense of reliever Tyle Matzek. Left fielder Eddie Rosario came very close to catching that ball, but finally came in just late.

Still, the five Braves pitchers used in that duel only allowed two hits. The starter, Ian Anderson (1-0), did not allow a single, he who gave three free passes and removed four opponents on catches, in five innings of work. Will Smith granted the visitors’ other hit, but also signed the save.

At bat, the Braves scored the winning point in the third inning. Austin Riley then hit a double, on an offering from Luis Garcia, which allowed Rosario to complete his tour of the trails. Garcia, the Astros’ starting pitcher, was finally called out after three and two-thirds innings on the mound. He allowed that one run on three hits and four walks, in addition to biting the dust with six opponents.

The other point for the Braves was the work of Travis d’Arnaud, who sent off a throw from reliever Kendall Graveman out of bounds in the eighth inning.

Both teams will be back on the Georgia squad on Saturday for the fourth game of the series, which the Braves lead 2-1.
