World Junior | Pre-season game canceled due to COVID-19

Will the World Juniors really take place despite the current health situation? The doubt persists, as Hockey Canada announced the cancellation of the preparatory match between Czechia and Switzerland, scheduled for Thursday at 7 p.m., “due to protocols related to COVID-19”.

Hockey Canada has not given more information on the matter, but according to TSN reporter Bob McKenzie, a player has tested positive on his drug test. Said result has yet to be confirmed, but the player in question will naturally be isolated. The meeting was canceled as a precaution.

Remember that the players are all tested daily. The teams have been confined to a bubble, which includes the arena and the hotel, for several days.

Earlier this week, the Canadian federation decided to limit pre-season games to one for each team, rather than three as is normally the case. All of these games were scheduled for Thursday.

The one between Canada and Russia, scheduled for 7 p.m., must still take place. The tournament is scheduled to start on December 26.
