World Junior Hockey Championship | Finland beat Austria 7-1

(Edmonton) Brad Lambert and Ville Koivunen both had three points and Finland crushed Austria 7-1 on Monday in day two of the World Junior Hockey Championship.



Lambert had one goal and two assists while Koivunen had two goals and one assists. Their line-mate Samuel Helenius got in the game by adding a goal and an assist.

The trio of Lambert, Koivunen and Helenius have already totaled six goals and 13 points in two games since the tournament.

Topi Niemela, Kasper Simontaival and Kalle Vaisanen also hit the target for Finland (2-0-0-0), which was more convincing than the day before, against Germany.

Austria (0-0-1-0) tied their 2021 tournament scoring record when Martin Urbanek found the back of the net on the power play.

Juha Jatkola was not very busy in front of the Finns, ending the game with eight saves.

Sebastian Wraneschitz had a somewhat more eventful game for Austria, yielding seven times on 48 shots.

Both teams are in Group A with Canada, Czechia and Germany. These last two formations will cross swords later Monday.
