World Junior Hockey Championship | Canada thrash Slovakia in preseason game

(Moncton) Canada continued to look good heading into the World Juniors, beating Slovakia 6-1 on Wednesday.


Joshua Roy had a goal and an assist, while Colton Dach, Brandt Clarke, Zach Dean, Brennan Othmann and Dylan Guenther also scored for Canada, which started its preseason schedule with a 6-0 win over Switzerland, Monday.

Connor Bedard and Shane Wright each had two assists. Benjamin Gaudreau stopped 16 shots.

Samuel Honzek deprived Gaudreau of a shutout by scoring Slovakia’s only goal at 2:24 of the final period. Patrik Andrisik made 41 saves.

The Canadians took advantage of two of their six chances on the power play, while Slovakia went 0-for-5.

Canada will wrap up its pre-season schedule with a game against Finland on Friday. He will play his first game at the World Junior Championship on December 26 against the Czech Republic in Halifax.
