On the one hand, Gaucher has the experience of the World Juniors and will watch Sunday’s game against the U Sports stars from the stands, along with eight other players whose place is almost confirmed, namely Connor Bedard, Shane Wright, Logan Stankoven , Dylan Guenther, Olen Zellweger, Zack Ostapchuk, Brandt Clarke and Ethan Del Mastro.
TAKE NOTHING FOR GRANTED
“I wouldn’t say I feel like I’ve got my place, but maybe they’ve seen what they had to see from me and they want to see others fighting amongst themselves,” he said at first, cautiously.
A co-worker then pointed out to him that perhaps there was no better place to be left out than during Junior Team Canada camp.
” So much the better. I’m happy if that’s it. If they see me in the lineup, that’s a plus and I’ll prove them right. »
READY FOR EVERYTHING
On the other side, Bolduc will try to prove that he deserves one of the very few spots available up front.
“We must not forget that it is Team Canada junior and that it will be the 23 best players in the country who will make the team. It’s a tough formation to break through, but I know I can do it. I am ready to play any role. Today (Saturday), in training, I was used a little shorthanded, which I don’t have the chance to do in Quebec. I am an intelligent player and I am able to adapt”.
Jordan Dumais, Zach Dean, Joshua Roy, Tyson Hinds, William Rousseau and Evan Nause will be the others from the QMJHL in action.
- The U Sports University All-Star Team will feature the best players from the Maritimes and will be led by Gardiner MacDougall. He, who manages the University of New Brunswick, had agreed to take the reins of the host team of the Memorial Cup, the Saint-Jean Sea Dogs, after their surprise elimination against the Océanic de Rimouski in the playoffs. He had led the team to the conquest of the big trophy.
