(Prague) Dominik Kubalik and Lukas Sedlak scored doubles as the Czechs beat Sweden 7-3 on Saturday, reaching the final of the world hockey championship for the first time since 2010.
The Czech Republic scored three goals in the middle period, taking the lead 5-2.
Kubalik and Sedlak also contributed a goal each.
Martin Necas added a goal and three assists.
David Kampf and Ondrej Kase were the other scorers for the winners.
Lukas Dostal made 36 saves, being beaten by Marcus Johansson, Marcus Pettersson and Joel Eriksson Ek.
The Czechs will face Canada or Switzerland in the final on Sunday.
“I’m at my best when I’m having fun and here I’m having 110% fun,” Necas said. I always dreamed of playing in the semi-final and final in front of the Czech fans.
“That said, we know the work is not done. It remains the most important match and we will have to be ready. »
Necas became the first player with four points in a tournament semifinal since Luc Robitaille in 1994.
Sweden had won eight consecutive matches.
“We feel like we had our chances, but it’s difficult when you concede so many goals,” Pettersson said.
