(Prague) Sweden defeated France 3-1 to maintain its perfect record and secure first place in Group B on Monday at the World Hockey Championship.
Lucas Raymond scored and added an assist in the victory. Defenseman Erik Karlsson scored his fourth goal of the tournament, on the power play, and Andre Burakovsky completed the scoring into an empty net.
Sweden now has six wins in six matches.
Charles Bertrand hit the target for France.
In Group A, Norway beat Great Britain 5-2.
Great Britain, bottom of its group, still has no points with one match remaining in the preliminary round. The country was relegated after just one year among the elite of world hockey.
Late in the day, Hannes Bjorninen and Rasmus Rissanen scored 97 seconds apart in the third period to help Finland defeat Denmark 3-1.
The victory keeps the Finns in the fight for fourth place in Group A. Austria has three points less, but defeated Finland 3-2 and will have the advantage in the event of a tie.
In Group B, Kazakhstan came from behind to win 3-1 against Poland.
The Poles qualified for the World Cup for the first time in 22 years, but were relegated after obtaining only one point.
