(Prague) After two overtime victories, Latvia defeated Kazakhstan 2-0 on Tuesday, winning a third game in a row at the World Hockey Championship.
Roberts Bukarts and Haralds Egle scored for Latvia, last year’s bronze medalists. Kristers Gudlevskis stopped 22 shots in the Group B match in Ostrava.
Latvia needed extra time to defeat Poland and France.
In Group A, in Prague, Norway won its first match during the tournament by winning 2-0 against Denmark.
Michael Brandsegg-Nygard and Eirik Salsten, in an empty net, scored for Norway. Henrik Haukeland made 24 saves.
Later Tuesday, Canada faced Austria in Group A and France faced Poland in Group B.
