World Cup in Qatar: the indignation of Jean Lassalle

After Vincent Lindon or Eric Cantona, it’s Jean Lassalle’s turn to give a very clear opinion on the FIFA World Cup in Qatar (November 20-December 18). “Let’s get out of this impasse, this outrage”, launched the former deputy at the microphone of France Bleu Béarn Bigorre. He finds “overwhelming” the example that France and the other countries will set by taking part in this competition. Jean Lassalle denounces several things: the working conditions of immigrant workers to build the stadiums in Qatar but also the environmental disaster that this great meeting will cause. Under these conditions, he castigates: “How do you convince this winter to lower its thermometer by 1 degree?” (Editor’s note: to save money)

The call to other countries

More radical than a simple boycott, Jean Lassalle calls for a change of organizing country. He asks the United Kingdom and Germany to position themselves. “In two months, they can perfectly organize this Cup”, he said.

Wednesday, September 15, Jean Lassalle spoke about it on his social networks. He posted a message titled “O Qatar, O great Qatar. We surrender our honor to you!” to explain his choice in detail.
