Kenyan of origin authorized to run for Kazakhstan since the beginning of the year, Jeruto (26) beat the Ethiopians Werkuha Getachew and Mekides Abebe.
Jeruto printed a very fast tempo from the start, enough to stretch the peloton, before getting rid of his last opponents on the last lap.
Jeruto has six victories on the prestigious Diamond League circuit but had never competed in the senior league, having had to wait several years before being able to represent Kazakhstan.
None of the three athletes on the podium had ever won an international medal.
