World Aquatic Sports Championships | Caeli McKay and Kate Miller secure their place at the Paris Olympics

Caeli McKay was back in action on Tuesday at the World Aquatics Championships in Doha, Qatar. The 24-year-old diver took part in the 10m synchro event alongside Ontario’s Kate Miller.


If the Chinese Yuxi Chen and Hongchan Quan, gold medalists thanks to their 362.22 points, as well as the North Koreans Mi Rae Kim and Jin Mi Jo (320.70 points), second, left no doubt as to in their place on the podium, the fight was strong to obtain the bronze medal.

Ukraine, Great Britain, Spain and Canada were all in the race for third place on the podium with just one dive to go. Britain’s Lois Toulson and Andrea Spendolini Sirieix scored 74.88 points on their final dive to secure bronze.

For their part, Miller and McKay finished in sixth place, an extremely important result for the duo who also confirmed their place for the Paris Olympic Games in the 10m synchro event.

The Quebecer from Alberta took part in her first Olympic Games in 2021, in Tokyo, and placed fourth in the 10m synchro with Meaghan Benfeito.

Earlier in the day, Cédric Fofana finished in 34e rank of the preliminary round on the 3m springboard. A result which was not enough to obtain his ticket for the semi-finals.

Mia Vallée and Pamela Ware will be in action on Wednesday in Doha when they will compete in the 3m synchro final.
