Avoid the blue line of the Montreal metro on Sunday: work to promote universal accessibility will force the closure of stations west of Parc between 5:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. A shuttle will be available for users.
The work mainly concerns the Édouard-Montpetit metro station. Two elevators to reach the landings in both directions of the metro will be installed. Eventually, the station will become the 27e to be universally accessible in Montreal.
The location of switches and crossings, necessary for the reversal of trains, will however force the closure of other stations that day, the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) indicated on April 21.
The Acadie, Outremont, Édouard-Montpetit, Université-de-Montréal, Côte-des-Neiges and Snowdon stations will not be able to accommodate users and trains between 5:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. Sunday.
The rest of the blue line, i.e. the section between Parc and Saint-Michel stations, will remain available at all times. The orange line at the Snowdon station can also be used to get to Jean-Talon.
To compensate for this service interruption, a shuttle service — the special line 809 — will offer a service between the Snowdon and Jean-Talon stations, stopping at each station on the blue line. It will run every 15 minutes from 5:30 a.m. to 7 a.m. and every 10 minutes from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
