Works and obstacles | The Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine tunnel sector to avoid this weekend

Highway 25 and the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine tunnel should be avoided this weekend, as several traffic obstructions will increase there. Overall, congestion is also expected on highways 40 and 13, as well as on the Victoria Bridge.

This was announced Thursday by Mobilité Montréal, the committee responsible for coordinating public works in the metropolitan region.

From the outset, Highway 25-South will be completely closed between exit 5 and the entrance to Avenue Souligny from Friday evening to Monday morning. Many detours will be in place via De Boucherville, Hochelaga and Dickson streets. Truckers will be invited to take Boulevard de L’Assomption Nord, Rue Sherbrooke or Boulevard Pie-IX.

Between Montreal and Longueuil, Highway 25-sud will also be closed between exit 4 and the entrance to rue de l’Île-Charron, which includes the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine tunnel, during the nights from Friday to Saturday and Saturday to Sunday.

But that’s not all. Towards the north, nighttime closures are also expected throughout the weekend on this same highway, this time between exit 90 and the entrance from Notre-Dame Street.

Avenue Souligny is not to be outdone either. This axis, which is located near the La Fontaine tunnel, on the Montreal side, will be completely closed between Dickson and Honoré-Beaugrand streets to the east during the two nights of the weekend. Towards the west, traffic will also be blocked during the night from Friday to Saturday in the same sector.

In Ville-Marie, rue Mansfield will have to be closed between rue Saint-Jacques and rue Saint-Antoine Ouest from Friday evening to Sunday morning.

In the southwest of the island, the Victoria Bridge connecting Montreal to Saint-Lambert remains under construction. The west span of the bridge, on the Samuel-De Champlain bridge side, will remain closed until at least September 21. Until then, on the east side of the Victoria Bridge, traffic will only be possible in one direction, namely towards Montreal from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m., then towards Saint-Lambert from 3 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Highway 40, for its part, risks being quite obstructed in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue during the weekend. A complete closure of the motorway is planned in the west direction for three consecutive nights starting Friday, between exit 41 and the next entrance.

On the North Shore, two of the three lanes of Highway 13 North will be closed all nights of the weekend, until Monday morning, between the Louis-Bisson bridge and exit 12. Please note: the exit 17, leading to Sainte-Rose Boulevard, will also have to be closed during the night from Friday to Saturday.

From Saturday evening to Sunday morning, Highway 13-North will also be blocked between Laval and Boisbriand, more precisely between exit 15 and the entrance to Route 344, including the Vachon bridge. The next day, from Sunday evening to Monday morning, traffic will be blocked between exit 12 and the next entrance.
