The very luxurious Hotel du Collectionneur, privatized to host the International Olympic Committee in Paris as part of the Olympic Games, experienced, on Thursday July 25 in the morning, a walkout carried out by a “thirty employees”according to the count of a CGT union delegate.

The mobilization took place early in the morning “between the restaurant and the hall” of the five-star establishment, located in the 8th arrondissement, reported the hotel’s union representative, Loris Toufanian, contacted by franceinfo.

On the pSigns carried by employees displayed messages such as: “No 13th month, no Olympics!”, “Hands off our contracts”, “Luxury hotel, poverty wages”, according to the video published by the departmental union of the CGT Paris on the social network X. Leaflets for guests were also distributed inside and outside the hotel, reports Loris Toufanian.

A mobilization which “did not affect the operation of the hotel at all,” said the establishment, contacted by franceinfo.

This walkout, the fourth in a month and a half according to the CGT, comes the day after a new meeting with management as part of the mandatory annual negotiations (NAO) in order to require increases for the 250 hotel employees.

The establishment “has not known anywage increases over the past seven years,” asserts the union delegate, who notes “too many injustices to remain wisely at one’s post.” “Dtwo increases took place for the Hotel-café-restaurant service in 2022 and 2023″, at the end of the Covid-19 health crisis, argues the management of the establishment, without specifying the amounts.

Another aspect of Thursday morning’s mobilization: the fate reserved for Loris Toufanian, also an activist for the Armenian cause. As part of an investigation by the National Service for Administrative Security Investigations (Sneas) intended to “assess potential risks to the safety of people, public safety or state security”, he could not be accredited to visit the hotel during the Olympic Games period, according to the establishment’s explanations.
