Words on the Annecy drama, a challenge for the planet and a giant dictation: news from a child’s perspective

The attack on a playground in Annecy, small gestures for the environment and the signal start of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, this is the champion menu of Salut l’info! this week.

Every week, the podcast “Salut l’info!” tells the news to children aged 7 to 11, a program from franceinfo radio and Astrapi magazine. In each episode, the children take the floor and co-present the program with the journalists. On the microphone this week: Arthur, 8 years old.

Attack in Annecy: tips for talking about it with children

It was an event that moved all of France: Thursday, June 8, a man injured six people with a knife, including four young children. Information that can shock then in this episode, we listen to the advice of Nadège Larcher, psychologist. “It’s normal that we are all shocked”she explains first, before giving advice such as “watch television at a minimum and even ask adults to turn off the television when you’re there, because children don’t need to see this kind of image.”

Like every week, in this episode, “Hello news!” takes a tour of the news. Direction also Ukraine, where a large dam exploded Tuesday, June 6. 18 billion tons of water poured out at once and flooded much of the region. The show looks back on this new event in the war between Russia and Ukraine.

On your marks… get set… write! Sunday, June 4, the famous avenue des Champs Elysées in Paris was transformed into a classroom, the time of a dictation, the largest in the world! There will also be champions on the starting line of the 24 Hours of Le Mans this weekend. The famous car race celebrates its 100th anniversary this year.

Small challenges for the planet

The program “Salut l’info!” loves to give the floor to children and tell their daily life, especially at school. In the Paris region, for example, students led the My little planet project with their teacher. Pauline from franceinfo went to meet them, with our technician Ivan.

If you too with your class, you carry out an original project and you wish to tell about it to Salut l’info!, it is possible to leave us a message on our answering machine at 01 47 79 40 00. It is at this same number that children told their jokes, which we listen to in this new episode.

Finally, like every week in the very select Salut l’info! club, a guest child tells us about his tastes and answers the show’s quiz. In this episode, it is Arthur, 8 years old, who notably introduces us to Japan.

Good listening !
