“Wonder Jazz”, Manon David Club

The singer-songwriter and bassist from Rennes in France presents Wonder Jazz, his new microalbum. And when listening to this one, we honestly have the impression of finding ourselves in the middle of a dark room, lit by the glow of a disco ball, almost empty where only two or three night owls are dancing as if tomorrow did not exist, in front of a solitary singer. Do you see this kitsch, slightly nostalgic image? It feels good doesn’t it? Wonder Jazz, that’s exactly it: a musical capsule to go back in time, heading to the most insane memories, even those that are imagined, marked by funk sounds, outdated French-speaking synth pop, jazz… all of that at the same time. The sweet and mischievous voice of Manon David finds its perfect setting there. It’s hard to choose only one or two tracks from the seven on the microalbum, let’s just say that Maudeville particularly attracts attention because its groove seems to prove that anything is possible.
