(Brampton) Celina Haider scored two goals and added two assists on Thursday as Germany beat Sweden 6-2 in a Group B game at the World Women’s Hockey Championship.
Franziska Feldmeier also scored a brace for the Germans. Laura Kluge and Svenja Voigt completed.
Hilda Svensson scored both goals for Sweden, including the game’s first ever after just 10 seconds into the game.
German goalkeeper Sandra Abstreiter stopped 31 shots while Emma Soderberg conceded five goals on 27 shots.
Two other matches are on the schedule today. In a Group A duel, Japan will give battle to the Czech Republic.
In the evening, in a Group B match, France will try to forget their stinging 14-1 defeat against Finland on Wednesday when they face Hungary.
Canada, which is in Group A, along with the United States, will make its next outing on Friday evening against the Czech Republic. For their part, the Americans will play Friday morning against Switzerland.
On Wednesday night, Canada opened the tournament with a 4-0 win over Switzerland. Earlier in the day, the United States beat Japan 7-1.
