Hockey Canada announced Monday afternoon the names of the 23 players selected to take part in the event, which will take place in the towns of Herning and Frederikshavn, Denmark. Poulin and Desbiens are the only two Quebecers to be part of it.
The players were chosen following an 11-day selection camp, which was held in Calgary as part of the BFL National Women’s Program summer showcase.
Of the team’s 23 members, 19 were part of the 2021 champion edition and 18 won gold at the Beijing Olympics last February, including Poulin and Desbiens. They will be led by head coach Troy Ryan.

The Canadian team will face the representatives of the United States, Finland, Japan and Switzerland in Group A while the teams of Germany, Denmark, Hungary, Sweden and the Czech Republic will compete in Group B.
The maple leaf representatives will play two preseason games against Denmark (August 20) and the United States (August 23), before their first match against the Finns on August 25.
