“There is a built-in misogyny that is immense.” Singer Lio was the guest of the show “C L’Hebdo” on France 5, Saturday January 6. She spoke there on the Gérard Depardieu affair, indicted for rape and sexual assault. In a recent investigation by the show “Complément d’investigation”the actor, accused by several women, is filmed making numerous sexual, insulting and sexist remarks, not sparing a girl of around ten years old.

“I was lucky to be able to avoid it,” recounted the singer on the set of “C L’Hebdo”. “To my sister [Helena Noguerra] who was asked if she wanted to be introduced, since she acted in films where he was, we told her before: ‘You know, he touches the breasts, he puts his hands in the panties, but anyway it’ is Gérard'”, confided the artist. His sister “replied: ‘No, I don’t want to pay that price’. For Lio, “everyone knows and no one says anything” in the cinema industry. “There are lists circulating in the profession, so everyone knows about sexual predators, and some still practice,” she says.

Lio also reacted to the column signed by dozens of personalities from the world of culture, titled “Don’t erase Depardieu” and denouncing a “lynching happening” on the actor. Since then, several signatories have withdrawn their support. “The platform is regrettable in itself”, Lio responds on France 5. Who asked for a book burning? (…) Nobody has talked about erasing Gérard Depardieu.” The singer adds that “the presumption of innocence exists and will always exist, it is up to justice to deliver its verdict, but the voices of the women who have made themselves heard must be heard.” “That’s what I blame,” continues the artist, “oHe still doesn’t want to hear them.”

“Listen to these women who still managed to survive, what they say! It’s not nothing, it’s not a detail!” insisted Lio, referring to the fact that she was a victim of domestic violence. “Yes, there are strong women who say no, but what do we do with the others?” she said. “What do you think I was like when I was beaten? Nothing ? I am a strong woman at times and fragile at other times.”
