Women’s Gold Cup | Quebecer Bianca St-Georges will replace Sydney Collins

(Houston) Quebecer Bianca St-Georges will replace Sydney Collins in the Canadian team which will take part in the very first women’s Gold Cup, Canada Soccer announced on Tuesday.


Collins suffered a fractured ankle during the national training camp. The defender returned to North Carolina, where she will begin her recovery at the facilities of Courage, her NWSL team.

The circumstances leading to this injury have not been disclosed. Collins was one of 14 players who took part in the CONCACAF tournament camp that concluded Sunday in San Antonio, Texas.

The Canadians, 10are in the world, will begin the Gold Cup on Thursday against El Salvador, 104eat Shell Energy Stadium, in Houston.

Collins participated in six games with the Canadian team and St-Georges, nine.
