At least nine women attending a party of this political formation were drugged with substances known as “rape drugs”the SPD told AFP on Saturday, July 9. “The excitement is big enough”said a spokesperson for the Social Democratic parliamentary group, confirming information from the Berlin daily Tagesspiegel (in German).

Berlin police say they are investigating serious bodily harm after a 21-year-old woman filed a complaint against X. Police say they have been notified of four other cases so far. The spokesperson for the parliamentary group claims to know that nine victims have been listed but did not rule out that there are more. “I advise all those concerned to file a complaint”wrote on Twitter (in German) a leader of the parliamentary group, Katja Mast.

Around a thousand people took part in the traditional SPD party on Wednesday before the summer parliamentary recess. Among the guests, the chancellor, member of this formation, but also many deputies and their collaborators. “It was an internal event. We could only enter by invitationsaid the spokesperson. There are still many uncertainties, the police are investigating.”

The Berlin police explained that they had been alerted by a young woman who, the day after the event, had no memory of the evening. She then went to the hospital for a medical examination and filed a complaint. During the party, the plaintiff, who had consumed food and non-alcoholic beverages, had felt unwell with, in particular, nausea and dizziness. “Rapist drugs”, which usually cause nausea and dizziness, refer to different mind-altering substances that are usually poured into people’s drinks and then abused them through violence, theft or sexual assault.
