Six months after the fall of Kabul, the daily lives of three Afghan women have been turned upside down by the return of the Taliban to power.
They defy danger and the forbidden. Women deprived of freedom against the Taliban demonstrated in Kabul (Afghanistan). In this capital, it has been six months since Zakia, a business student, has not returned to university. She preferred to give up her studies for fear of being attacked. “When I went to college and saw those who weren’t getting an education, I thought to myself that I was studying, that my family was supporting me. I was proud, lucky“, confides the young woman.
A seamstress, Roya now also spends her days at home. Only a few months ago, however, she was teaching embroidery. “I’m desperate, I’ve lost all hope. I’m stuck at home. I had dreamed that my children would receive an education“, deplores Roya. But other women hold a completely different speech. In a village not far from there, Friba says she is relieved; remarks made without it being known whether they are pronounced for fear of retaliation.”It’s much better now. If there is a lack of oil, salt or something else, they distribute it to us“, explains this housewife.
