Woman thrown from 3rd floor: 21-year-old man charged with aggravated assault

A 21-year-old man appeared on charges of aggravated assault on Sunday evening in connection with the event where a young woman was thrown down from the third floor of an apartment building on rue de la Forestin the Saint-Louis sector, in Sainte-Foy.

Santiago’s Jose Ulises Garcia appeared by telephone on Sunday evening to answer a charge of aggravated assault.

The man was also the subject of three arrest warrants for an absence from court in a case where charges of assault and mischief weigh against him.

Continued Tuesday

Garcia de Santiago will return to court on Tuesday for the rest of the case. He is suspected of having thrown a woman in her twenties with whom he would have marital ties over the railing of the third floor of a dwelling on the night of Saturday to Sunday. The police were called to the scene around 4 a.m.

It was a tenant of the building who had contacted the emergency services. The woman would have witnessed the fall of the victim. She told the Journal that she heard screams in the previous hours in the apartment where the drama took place.

According to the SPVQ, the victim suffered serious injuries, but there is no fear for his life. She fell in the snow, but would have narrowly avoided a wooden stair railing.

Assault on 4 people

In his other case, in which he was under arrest warrant, Garcia de Santiago is charged with assaulting four people on February 18, 2022. He also allegedly committed mischief on a car at that time.

He was to return to court on January 25, but did not show up, the judge issuing an arrest warrant against him.

More details to come…
