Woman stabbed in the Plateau-Mont-Royal: a homicide in a context of domestic violence, according to the Montreal police

A man is to be charged Wednesday afternoon with the first degree murder of 24-year-old Romane Bonnier. This homicide, committed in a context of domestic violence, was perpetrated Tuesday in the Plateau Mont-Royal borough in Montreal.

François Pelletier, 36, was scheduled to appear before a judge on Wednesday afternoon at the Montreal courthouse.

The man, who is not known to the police, must be formally accused of stabbing the young woman.

The victim is his former roommate, said Wednesday the spokesperson for the Service de police de la ville de Montréal (SPVM), Véronique Dubuc.

The SPVM had already reported that an altercation between the two would have degenerated near the intersection of Milton and Aylmer streets, in an area near McGill University. François Pelletier would then have attacked the young woman, inflicting injuries on her. He was arrested on the spot on Tuesday.

It would be the 26e homicide on the territory of the metropolis since the beginning of the year.
