Woman stabbed in Quebec fights for her life in hospital, her son arrested

A 60-year-old woman who was stabbed by her son in Quebec is fighting for her life in hospital.

The stabbing occurred Friday evening, around 8 p.m., on rue de Repentigny, in the Saint-Sacrement district.

A 27-year-old man was arrested on the scene by police officers from the Quebec City Police Service (SPVQ), who confirmed that the attack occurred “in an intra-family context”.

“During the night, major crime investigators and forensic identification technicians went to the scene to reconstruct the scene” and thus try to clarify the circumstances surrounding this attack, indicated William Robitaille, door -spokesperson of the SPVQ.

The suspect is still detained. He is expected to appear in court in the coming hours and possibly face a charge of attempted murder.

The SPVQ investigation continues.
