Woman seriously injured after being hit by car, partner in police custody

A 42-year-old man was taken into police custody, accused of having intentionally hit his partner with a vehicle on Friday evening in Riedesheim (Haut-Rhin). An investigation was opened by the Haut-Rhin public prosecutor’s office for attempted intentional homicide.

A young woman aged 23 was hospitalized with multiple traumas this Friday, May 17, 2024 at night in Mulhouse. His vital prognosis is in jeopardy, after having probably been hit by the car driven by his alleged companion, a police source told us, confirming information from AFP. The suspect was taken into custody and an investigation was opened for attempted intentional homicide.

The national police were notified on Friday May 17, shortly after 9:30 p.m. Two witnesses present on site when the police arrived reported that the victim had a dispute with a man, according to our source. The man in question then allegedly asked the victim to get out of the vehicle, before walking away and then returning to hit her. Some time later, while the police had established a security perimeter and were carrying out the usual checks, a black vehicle approached the area.

The driver, clearly drunk, refused to take a drug test and was aggressivesays our source.
