A 39-year-old woman was indicted for intentional homicide after the discovery of the remains of a newborn this weekend in Vannes (Morbihan), France Bleu Armorique learned on Wednesday June 21 from the Vannes prosecutor’s office. The mother of four was released along with her husband who discovered the child’s remains in the garage of their home on Sunday. The man is indicted for receiving a corpse.

According to the Vannes prosecutor, it was an acquaintance of the couple who contacted the police station this weekend. He had just had the father of the family, a friend, on the telephone, who had just informed him of the discovery: the body of a decomposing newborn hidden in a backpack in his garage. He indicated that his partner had just told him that she had not had a miscarriage in 2019 but had indeed given birth to a baby boy, stillborn, according to her, and that she had placed him in a sheet, a plastic bag then slipped into a backpack.

According to the words of this woman reported by her husband, the facts had taken place in the absence of the husband, a truck driver and following a pregnancy not followed medically. When they arrived on Sunday, reports the prosecution, the investigators found the father burying the body in the garden of the home. A scan and an autopsy carried out on Monday were able to determine that this baby was born at 40 weeks without malformation or trauma, but that he carried a cord of tissue around the cervical.
