Woman dies in collision in St. Thomas

A woman lost her life Thursday evening during a head-on collision in Saint-Thomas, near Joliette in Lanaudière.

The accident occurred around 6:15 p.m. when, for a reason that remains to be determined, a vehicle left its lane on Rang de la Grande Chaloupe and ended up in the opposite direction, causing a collision. A third vehicle then hit the other two, explained Ève Brochu-Joubert, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec.

The driver of one of the two vehicles involved in the initial collision lost her life. His death was noted on the spot, the spokesperson said.

The drivers of the two other vehicles suffered injuries described as minor and were taken to hospital as a precaution.

The SQ closed the row for part of the evening, while it conducted its investigation into the circumstances leading to this collision.
