Woman dies after vehicle dives in Niagara River

A 60-year-old died after her vehicle plunged into the Niagara River near the American Falls on Wednesday afternoon.

According to the local channel WBKB, the car fell into the water between two bridges, one for pedestrians and the other for vehicles. The investigation is underway to shed light on the tragedy. No other occupant was in the vehicle.

The lady’s death was pronounced at the scene.

Police said due to the location of the vehicle, the US Coast Guard conducted the operation. A spokesperson for the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation said the vehicle was nearly 45 meters from the edge of the falls.

New York State Police say they used a drone to fly over the operation and aid the investigation.
