“Without this dancer, he would have taken 2 tons on his head!”

Almost twenty years ago, the French discovered two singers who quickly became real stars of the French music industry: Christophe Maé and Emmanuel Moire. The two singers, aged 29 and 25 respectively, were featured in the musical The sun Kingcreated, produced and directed by Dove Attiathe emblematic juror of the New starto whom we owe many other successful musicals, such as The Ten Commandments, Mozart, the rock opera, 1789: The Lovers of the Bastille And The Legend of King Arthur. If this musical was crowned with success, and is one of the French musicals preferred by the French, it nevertheless escaped a terrible tragedy, which could have cost the life of its hero Christophe Maé.

Indeed, guest of RTL this Sunday, October 1, Dove Attia revealed an anecdote that they had all kept secret for two decades: in the middle of rehearsing the concert, a two-ton spinner collapsed… where Christophe Maé should have been at that time. But the singer owes his survival to the absence of a dancer that day, which changed the place of each artist on stage: “He almost died on The Sun King, I assure you. There was a big spinner (…) and the people who screwed it screwed a bolt wrong, and one day, it fell. It’s two tons. As luck would have it, there was a dancer absentand the absent dancer was no longer in the center, we put him around. There wouldn’t have been this absent dancer, he would have taken two tons on his head.

Sales that make you dizzy!

More fear than harm for Christophe Maé and all the other singers and dancers present… The damage, fortunately minor, did not have a major effect on the rest of the performances, but did certainly marked the one who, for twenty years, has achieved all the successes. In 2007, his first album, Mon paradis, which contains titles that have remained cult like We get attached And Because you never know, has sold more than 1.6 million opuses. The following four albums, released between 2008 and 2016, also ranked number one in France and Belgium. The last two, The artist’s life in 2019, and Life is funnyin 2023, ranked 2nd and 3rd respectively in France. After nearly twenty years of career, Christophe Maé undoubtedly remains one of the most popular French singers!
