The Lyonnais scared themselves this Friday January 19 in the round of 16 of the Coupe de France, but they will see the next round. Pierre Sage’s players won (2-1) against a Petit Poucet in the competition, Bergerac Périgord, a National 2 club, at the Beaublanc Sports Park in Limoges.
It was a little complicated for OL, despite their numerical superiority. LThe Bergeracois were solid in defense and the Lyonnais were serious but too imprecise, without ever really being too worried. It was not until the 37th minute that Lyon opened the scoring thanks to young Malick Fofana. Nothing to discourage the Bergerac players, who equalized just before returning to the locker room. It was Romain Escarpit, trained at… OL, who brought his team back up to speed.
Cackle as savior
The start of the second period looked a lot like the first, until the 65th minute and the exclusion of Christian Gyeboaho for a big charge on Corentin Tolisso. The Bergeracois never stopped playing, always with this desire to move forward, but they could not resist Maxence Caqueret’s volley on a deflected free kick from Ryan Cherki (78th). OL qualify for the round of 16 and will know their next opponent after the draw, which will take place on Sunday January 21.
