without filter, Florent Pagny confesses his old addictions which allowed him to “open up to others”

Since the publication of his autobiography, Pagny by Florent, released at Fayard on April 5, 2023 in which the artist indulges in complete transparency from his modest childhood in Le Creusot to his current career, through his loves, his cancer and his problems with taxes, Florent Pagny is on all the sets media! It must be admitted that his confessional testimony is an event. Him, usually, so discreet… This Sunday, April 9, it is at the microphone of Steven Bellery on RTL that the singer continues his confidences in all serenity. The cover of his book, where we see him smoking a “firecracker”, first sounded like a provocation… but Isabelle Saporta, director of Fayard editions, explained it to BFM TV stating that, “present everywhere”, the artist had in particular wanted to contribute to the choice of the cover. “We explained to him that we couldn’t normally show ourselves smoking. It’s not good”. But the artist had insisted, “He told us, maybe it’s not right, but it’s been my life. And my life, I never hide it. It will be this pictureso get on with it”. And the editor concludes: “There, he is like that, he is authentic. Yes, he smoked. Yes, he no longer smokes. Yes, he is sick. Yes, he fights. And he is a solar character”.

“The firecracker allowed me to manage my hyperactivity”
Returning to the subject of his cannabis use, the journalist from RTL then asks him:There is no doubt for you, it was the firecracker that gave you cancer?” And the singer to defend himself: “Oh no, not at all. In fact the firecracker, I can’t smoke it anymore because I can no longer absorb smoke to preserve my lungs but I don’t think it was the firecracker that gave me cancer… I don’t have cancer from 40 years of smoking. It leaves a lot of little traces and I don’t have those traces.”, Florent Pagny analyzes, especially wanting to explain his addiction: “What the firecracker brought me, in general THC, is what allowed me to manage my hyperactivity and to open up to others, to become much more receptive, to have more sensitivity and to be more in tune with sharing. I was so hyperactive that it was therapy, it helped me. There are people who take cannabis and they become stupid! It’s not for everyone…” The interviewer prompts him: “You say : ‘Cannabis saved me’”. And the singer concludes: “Yes, he made me less stupid and he allowed me to be more open to others.”
