Engie announced on June 15, 2023 the launch of a new brand: Vianeo, with the ambition of “become a key player in electric mobility“. The objective is to install 12,000 electric charging points throughout France, for light and heavy vehicles, by 2025. Engie has already been present on French motorways for less than a year with 1,000 fully operational charging points, including 800 for fast and ultra-fast charging. The group’s investments in this area amount to hundreds of millions of euros. The objective is to provide a maximum of equipment that allows you to recharge your vehicle – fill it up – in 20 minutes.

Engie Vianeo ensures that the energy supplied is of renewable origin, i.e. produced upstream by solar, wind and hydraulic power. Another advantage for motorists: the charging stations along the roads can be located and viewed in real time on a dedicated application or on the company’s website.
France has passed the milestone of 100,000 terminals installed, which remains largely insufficient in the face of the challenges of developing the electric car. But France can boast of being the second best-endowed European country, just behind the Netherlands. All operators have in mind the date of 2035 supposed to mark the end of new thermal cars in Europe. Ideally, we should reach 400,000 terminals installed in 2030. In other words, we will have to work twice as hard.
