Mina Kavani, an Iranian actress who has been in exile for 11 years, is the guest on the 8 p.m. news on Monday, September 16.
Mina Kavani, a political refugee in France, was born in Iran. “When I lived in Tehran, I wanted to be an actress, but I always suffered from the veil (…) Since I was very young”she confides. “[Avec] the veil, we always bring a certain lie with us on stage, in cinema. It is impossible to be a real actress in Iran with this lie”she confides.
After appearing naked in a film shot in 2013, she had to flee and can no longer return to her country. “It was about a love story (…) between a young woman who was a certain Mahsa Amini who was demonstrating, (…) who meets a man much older than her”says the actress.
How does she explain the resistance, the spirit of rebellion of Iranian women? “I think that by dint of having grown up in a society [où] “As soon as we are 9 years old, we should already be fighting (…). We are constantly in a kind of fight with society. (…) We grow up with that”analyzes Mina Kavani.
