As part of the “Parcours Slimen Elkamel à Paris”, three Parisian venues – the Arab World Institute and the La La Lande (which represents the artist) and Nouchine Pahlevan galleries – present the Tunisian painter’s paintings.
Open heart, the first museum exhibition dedicated to the Tunisian artist Slimen Elkamel is visible until March 6, 2022 at the Arab World Institute (IMA) in Paris. And shows his work from 2010 to 2020. As for his latest achievements (2021-2022), they are exhibited until March 10 in two Parisian galleries, La La Lande and Nouchine Pahlevan.
“To discover the works of Slimen Elkamel is to feel a particular strength, that of apprehending the world differently. (…) Open heart is an act of life, a call for a new start, an invitation to listen to the diversity of the world.“, says the curator of the exhibition, Ronan Grossiat.
“Narrator of dreams, the artist does not simply paint the history of his country but the bewitching humanity of the civilizations that have crossed it.“, confides Jack Lang, the president of the IMA.
A monograph titled Foreshadowing. On the paths of painting by Slimen Elkamel was published for the occasion by the Skira house, in co-edition with the La La Lande gallery.
