Every time he performs at the Zénith, seats go like hotcakes and the concerts are sold out. Except that here it is “sold out” four times in eight months.
“We expected it”, admits without surprise Sylvie Duchesne the director of the Zénith de Caen. “We thought he could fill it at least four times.” But the owner of the famous Caen concert hall is no less amazed: “It’s happened before, but quite rarely with artists like Johnny Hallyday or Jean-Jacques Goldman.” It must be said that Orelsan’s schedule was able to achieve this feat for “a child of the country” as Sylvie Duchesne calls it.
Seven Zénith de Caen since the beginning of his career
The rapper who had initially announced a single date in Caen to start his tour on January 15 had to reschedule it to April 28 due to health measures
related to the coronavirus crisis. But absolutely wanting to start his “Civilization Tour” at home, he had added the date of February 22 which was the real start of his 2022 tour
. And he therefore added two additional concerts for the fall on Wednesday 26 and Thursday 27 October. That is four Zénith de Caen in just over eight months.
“He grew up near this room, of course it’s different for him and it’s also different for us because we welcome him with a family warmth”continues Sylvie Duchesne.
This is confirmed by Orelsan fans like Morgane: “Caen is still the concerts that should not be missed. That’s where he comes from. It’s more intimate than a Bercy or the Paris La Défense Arena. The emotion is not the same. All the people of Caen are still talking about it weeks later.” This is why the young Cherbourgeoise will have attended the rapper’s four concerts in Caen, like her Caen girlfriend Emma who did everything to “to have a resale for the date of October 27, my mother said to me:” but you will have already seen it the day before. But when you love, you don’t count.
