The Banque de France’s growth forecasts have been revised downwards for the year 2022. They would be 2.3% in 2022. However, the war in Ukraine and the rise in energy prices could weigh on growth .

France would avoid recession, but the war in Ukraine complicates the situation. “The risk is that the government will not be able to cover all of the increase in gas prices, that households will be forced to pay a much higher bill”, explains Stéphanie Villers, economist. The Banque de France forecasts inflation of 5.6% in 2022 and 3.4% in 2023.
