In just a few words, Dombrance strongly believes in his “Electronic Republic”, the title of his album. After Poutu, Fillon or the pipe Raffarin in recent years, he has attacked the eight presidents of the 5th Republic.
“My campaign slogan is ‘For a France that dances'”, he slips, before specifying: “Music is immediately political. I find that politics is something important, which fascinates me, democracy, the fact of going to vote… But I think that music can bring us ideological solutions.“
In collaboration with the INA, for the ideas and the video archives, the producer and musician had a lot of fun building the atmospheres corresponding to the eras. For DeGaullefor example, “I realized I had the trick when I found the chords. There were a few things very Pink Floydian. And it stuck at the time. And I added a timpani to give a Radio London side“, he describes.
Before ending, of course, with the piece Macron : “I had this idea, rather linked to his personality, to do something too fast. And then when I started to do the piece, there was a rise where it started to twist, because in the five-year period there are still not things that have twisted, and at this end of the five-year period, we have a little feeling of going towards the end of the world.“
In this period of successive campaigns, the project is timely… But Dombrance, producer, DJ, musician in a host of aesthetics, has above all understood a lot about his role in recent months, far from very political speeches. “What’s important is what I do, the Covid brought me something a little crazy: as there were no more concerts, I was going to play with people I didn’t know. I partied with them for 24 hours, and for me, it changed my personal life, my vision as an artist… I made doctors, entertainers, Zadists dance. I went all over France, but above all I spent time with people“, he assures.
And without any demagogy, music allows this, much more than politics.
Dombrance can be found live this summer, especially on June 4 at the Yeah! de Lourmarin, and at the start of the school year on October 5 in Paris, at the Gaîté Lyrique…
