With “Anything can happen” the rapper Roméo Elvis confides that he has never “threw so many” pieces to compose an album

Three years after his last album, rapper Roméo Elvis has been back since May 27. The Belgian comes out Everything can happen and is preparing to go on tour again at the start of the school year. He worked a lot and often restarted this new disc, assuming everything that happened to him with the success. “Doubt is pure creation and I need motivation”, he says on one of the titles of the album. What sums up, in hollow, his philosophy. Because the one who has asserted himself as a beast of the stage constantly oscillates between doubt and confidence. “I so want to capture attention all the time, tell stories to the people who listen to me… Unless I do stand up, [la scène] is the best thing and the best place I can be.”

He took a long time to make this second real album, hit in particular by the Covid-19 but not only. “It’s the first time I’ve thrown away so much. At one point, I even found myself with an album that was ready and in fact I didn’t like it. I think I only kept two songs. “

“It’s really a luxury to be able to assume what I want to do, for example not to go especially for a radio hit. It was for me one of the risks I was taking.”

Everything can happen, without any featuring, is indeed an amazing disc, varied, between humor and roughness. It is also a form of reaction to Chocolatereleased in 2019, which had disconcerted die-hard fans, with its offset and assumed sweetness. “I love Chocolat with all my heart. All the mistakes I made on this album allowed me to move forward and to be much more comfortable today with my new album. I had to go through the”recognizes Roméo Elvis, who will turn 30 this year and says he has no regrets. “It was a mega good exercise: I was entering the big leagues, the mainstream, millions of streams and gold records… I learned.”

In 2020, the Belgian rapper was accused of sexual assault by a fan. He had “regret”apologizing for having “used his hands appropriately”. The case had triggered a media storm but he claims to have changed. “This other color of success teaches me today to improve myself, to become aware of what I can change. If it falls like that on me, it is surely because I had something to do with it, so let’s look the problem in front to prevent it from happening again.”

Today, Roméo Elvis repeats that he has understood many things in recent years: the peaks, the feeling of omnipotence, then the descent and the faults. The title of this new album, Everything can happenthen prevailed.
